Luxor city, ancient civilization
Luxor consists of three parts: the city of Luxor on the west bank of the Nile, and the Temple of Karnak and Thebes on the west bank of the Nile. The city is distinguished by historical evidence of a high culture past. For centuries, Thebes was the finest residence and most powerful city in the East. Like all the cities of ancient Egypt, Thebes was divided into the kingdom of the dead on the west bank and the kingdom of living things on the east. Luxor was known to the Greeks as “Thebes, the Hundred Gate.” Luxor is also the starting point for Nile cruises
